Shirley I. (Fjellman) Vik, 92, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Shirley was born in Worcester, daughter of Edla (Stengvist) and Carl G. Fjellman and was a graduate of Commerce High School. Shirley worked at Guaranty Bank & Trust in the Encoding Department for several years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had recently resided at Eddy's Pond Assisted Living in Auburn.
Her husband of 60 years, Torval H. Vik, died in 2002. She leaves her son, Steven T. Vik of Worcester; daughter, Paula E. Vik of Arizona; granddaughter, Kaelyn E. Vik of Somerville; several nieces and nephews - including Sandra Clarke, Nancy Landahl, and June Choiniere and their families; and her cousin, Paula Mae. She was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters.
Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Tuesday, July 15, from 4-7 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham MA 01701 or the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham MA 01701.
