Obituary

Charles H. "Charlie" Foster, Jr., 92, a resident of North Andover, MA, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family.

Born in West Boxford, MA, Charlie graduated in 1939 from Johnson High School as the class essayist. He went on to attend M.I.T. Charlie had worked as a general contractor in the Merrimack Valley area since the mid 1950's and had worked as the North Andover Building Inspector for 28 years. He was a member of the North Andover Boosters Club for many years and was a Junior League baseball coach for 13 years. Charlie was a member of the State Building Inspectors Association as well as a 50 year member of the Cochichewick Masonic Lodge. He was a former Scout Master for the Kittredge School as well as a founding member of the North Andover V.F.W. Golf League. Charlie was an avid 45's player and enjoyed gardening as well as playing golf. He had a great love of all Boston sports as well as family sporting events. Charlie was very patriotic and proud of his Yankee heritage.

The son of the late Charles H., Sr. and Sarah E. (Whittier) Foster, members of Charlie's family include:
his wife of 32 years: Anna (Evangelos) Foster, his children: Martha Heinze, C. Alan Foster and his wife Marie, Brendan Foster and his wife Christine, Stephen Foster and his wife Betsy, and Patricia Foster, step-children: Robert Donahue, Denise Call and her husband Douglas, Terri Rinaldi, and Hope Howden, as well as 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson Ryan Foster. Charlie is also survived by 8 step-grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. The family would like to thank the staff at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House for their kindness and compassion.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 3 to 6 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA. Friends are invited to meet at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 72 Elm St., North Andover, MA, on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. for Charlie's Funeral Services. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery, also in North Andover, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA, 02215, or to the charity of one's choice.
