Ethredge Rooks
Augusta, GA – Went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, Mr. Ethredge Lamar Rooks, 87, loving husband to Nina Chalker Rooks.
Mr. Rooks was a native of Jefferson County. He served in the United States Navy CBs. He attended Believers Gospel Chapel and retired from Carolina Crane, Inc. as a crane operator. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local #474. Mr. Rooks was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Family members in addition to his wife include sons: Barry Rooks (Monica) of Suwanee, GA, Timothy Rooks (Emily) of Plum Branch, SC, Steve Rooks (Pat) of Martinez, GA; 8 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and sisters: Dean Kuykendall of Augusta, GA, Virginia Stanfield of Woodbine, GA, Sonya Usry (Algernon) of Stapleton, GA. He is preceded in death by his son, Ethredge “Rookie” L. Rooks, Jr.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. John Reimer and Jerry Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Philip Rooks, Ricky Link, Richard Daniel, Jason Rooks, Joey Stanfield, Jim Stanfield, Bobby Smith, Keith Usry, and Jeremy Brown.
