Ruth Acosta Garcia

“One mom, one life, a million memories”

May 7, 1915 – July 8, 2014

Modesto, CA – In the loving care of her daughter Patricia Lopez-Watts, on July 8, Ruth
Acosta Garcia, 99, reunited with her husband, Manuel “Tony” Garcia who preceded her
to a better place on February 23, 2001.

Born in Metcalf, AZ on May 7, Ruth was a life long resident of Ventura an active
parishioner of San Buenaventura Mission is survived by her six children, Leo G. Garcia
(Rose Marie) Ventura, Manuel A. Garcia(Jennie) Long Beach, Patricia Lopez-Watts (William) Modesto, Anita Pulido(Alex) Carpinteria, Stephen J. Garcia(Gloria) Ventura, Ronald D. Garcia(Anne) Menlo Park and 18 grandchildren, 24 great and 7 great-great
grandchildren.

Mother was a fun loving outdoorswoman, camping, fishing, vacationing in their
Airstream. For more than twenty years, she and dad would haul their beloved trailer
and spend entire summers on Vancouver Island fishing for salmon and visiting with
their many friends.

Mom will be remembered for her ever-bubbly outlook, gracious smile, caring disposition
and an immediate friend to all who knew her – she was the glue that kept the family
together under the good and the challenging times. Additionally, she was a member
of the Guadalupana Society (devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe) and the Serra Club
(promoting Holy Orders and St. John’s Seminary).

Family and Friends are invited to visiting hours Sunday, July 13, 2014 between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura. On Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. a same day Rosary and Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. will be held
in San Buenaventura Mission, Ventura followed by Internment Services at Santa Clara
Cemetery, Oxnard.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the “Tony and Ruth Garcia
Family Scholarship”, c/o Ventura College Foundation, 4667 Telegraph Road, Ventura,
CA 93003 – This is a memorial scholarship for local community college students seeking a health profession career.
