LACONIA – Irene G. Carrier, 89, of 30 County Drive, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Belknap County Nursing Home. She was born on March 13, 1925 in Laconia, the daughter of William and Eva (Provencal) Benoit. She was a lifelong resident of the city of Laconia.
Irene was a devoted mother & grandmother. She was committed to the Catholic faith and a longtime member of the Lady of the Lakes Church in Lakeport. She worked at Christmas Island Resort for many years. Many of the returning guests spoke of her kindness and care and looked forward to seeing her year after year.
She is survived by her son, Ron Carrier of Laconia, her daughter, Nancy Wiggin and her husband Craig Wiggin of Meredith; two grandchildren, Corey Wiggin and Casey Wiggin; her brother, Armand Benoit of Laconia and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lucien Carrier to whom she was married for 50 years; a brother, Edward Benoit and a sister, Arlene Campbell and her half-sister Pauline Morency.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andre Bessette Parish - Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia. Burial will follow in the family plot at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Laconia.
