New Bedford – Manuel Cabral, age 89 of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 at home with his family at his side. He was the husband of the late Maria Jose Cabral and son of the late Evangelina (Sousa) and Jose Cabral Saraiva. Mr. Cabral was born in St. Michael, Azores and moved to the New Bedford area in 1966. He worked as a floor man at Seafood Processing Co. until his retirement. Mr. Cabral was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 59.
He leaves behind 3 sons: Joseph Cabral of Jacksonville, Florida, Edward Cabral of Providence, R.I. and Antonio Cabral of New Bedford, 2 grandchildren Nicole Cabral Rodrigues and Michael Cabral, a sister Ana of Santa Maria, Azores. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Wednesday, July 2 beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend.
