New Bedford – William R. Housewright, age 69 of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Debra A. (Boyer) Housewright and the son of the late Hazel (Crossman) and the late William F. Housewright. He and Debra spent 19 years together with the past 12 years in loving marriage.
“Mr. Bill” was employed as a Taxi Driver for many years and was known to many as the “Frogman”.
He liked to play cribbage and was always willing to help people in need. Most of all, William was a devoted family man and will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
Mr. Bill’s family includes his wife, Debra, of New Bedford; 6 children: Timothy Lantange and his wife, Debra, Hazel St. Don and her fiancé, Roger St. Pierre, Bonnie Roldan and her husband, Francisco, all of New Bedford, Bernice Arruda of Boston, Michael Giusti of New Bedford, and the late Gloria Lee Housewright; siblings: Marie Cardozo, Leon Housewright and his wife, Claire, Shirley Pardo and her husband, Fernando, all of New Bedford, Margaret Cabral and her husband, Raymond, of Acushnet, Bernice Sylvia and her husband, Joseph, of New Bedford, Larry Housewright and his companion, Pamela Ropsa, of Fairhaven, Richard Housewright and his companion, Karen Nichols, of Dartmouth and the late James Housewright; as well as 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Monday, June 30 in the funeral home from 10:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. A service will be conducted during that time and burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
