New Bedford – Maria Natalia (Coucelos) Almeida, age 72 of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Royal of Fairhaven, with her family at her side. She was the loving wife of Jose Almeida and the daughter of the late Maria Augusta (Cardoso) Coucelos and Jose Garcia Coucelos. Mrs. Almeida was born in Fayal, Azores and has lived here since 1974. Maria was the proprietor of a day care center in California . She was a communicant of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Maria is also survived by a sister, Maria Augusta Coucelos, of New Hampshire and a brother, Belmiro Garcia Coucelos, of Woburn, MA. and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Friday, June 27, 2014, beginning in the funeral home at 8:30 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Friday morning from 8:30 – 10 A.M. Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend.
