6/14/2014

Elizabeth "Lisa" Duffy, 65, died on June 14, 2014, at Waban Health Center, Newton, MA, from cancer and pneumonia. Lisa was born August 15, 1948, in Cambridge, the daughter of Joseph B. Duffy and Mary Ring Duffy, and spent most of her life in the Watertown-Cambridge area. She attended Watertown High School and Emmanuel College, majoring in French and German, and did graduate work in French at Boston College. She held various secretarial positions over the years, but chronic mental illness curtailed her employment. Lisa enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to classical music, reading French literature, making stained glass pieces, and occasionally hiking and biking in Vermont. She spent the final four years of her life in the loving and supportive environment of Waban Health Center, which served as a wonderful final home. She is survived by her sisters Mary Duffy Scollins of Vermont and Marka Cubberley of England, and brother Joseph Duffy of Seattle and their families, her aunt Peggy Connolly of Nashua, NH, and many cousins, nieces and a nephew. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John Chrysostom Church 4750 Washington St., West Roxbury, on Friday June 20 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment at Mt. Benedict Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, if desired, to Waban Health Center, c/o Resident Activity Fund , 20 Kinmonth Rd., Waban, MA 02468, or to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Boston, 18 Canton St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
