Obituary

John L. "Jack" Sexton Jr., a 19 year resident of Everett and former longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 79 years old.

Jack was born in Boston on December 11, 1934, a son of the late John L. Sexton and Agnes (Cunha) Sexton. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1952. Jack enlisted into the United States Air Force on March 24, 1953 and served his country with courage and pride during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on March 23, 1957 with the rank of Airman, Second Class. Jack worked for The Bank of Boston for over 44 years and retired several years ago as a Corporate Services Officer in the Coin and Currency Department. Jack enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association.

Jack is the beloved husband of 33 years to Lorraine R. (Poole) Sexton. He is the devoted brother of Eileen Murphy and her husband Paul of Cambridge, William Sexton and his wife Carol of California and the late Thomas R. Sexton and his surviving wife Mary of Melrose. He is the beloved brother-in-law of Peggy and Bobby Zarela of Methuen, Joanne and Tom Fitzgerald of Methuen, Steven and Eileen Poole of Winthrop, Eleanor and Joe Foley of Charlestown and the late Ronny Poole and his surviving wife Roberta, the late David Poole and Samuel Poole. He is the loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jack's Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11 A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Chapel of The Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Avenue, Chelsea. His burial will be private. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
