Robert L. Peterson, 89, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of North Kingstown, RI and Whitman, passed away May 31, 2014. He was the husband of the late Rosemary (Ross) Peterson.
Born in Brockton, MA, he was a son of the late Carl F. and Esther (Lindberg) Peterson. A twenty year Veteran of the US Navy, Mr. Peterson served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He later worked as a railroad electrician for Amtrak for fifteen years before retiring. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Branch 42 and the St. George's Masonic Lodge in Brockton, MA. He also enjoyed skiing and sailing with his family.
He leaves two sons, Robert D. Peterson and his wife Suyapa of Sebastian, FL and Richard J. Peterson and his wife Melanie of Lawrenceville, GA; two daughters, Ruth Crump and her husband Frank of North Kingstown and Rhonda Stancil of Jacksonville, FL; a late brother Carl F. Peterson, Jr. of Middleboro, MA; a sister, Meredith Gould of Whitman, MA; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours Saturday, June 28th from 10-11AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, MA. His funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, with a Masonic Service at 10:30AM. Burial will follow in the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton, MA.
