Obituary

NATICK: Onaitha Acety Colon, age 38, of Dorchester, formerly of Natick, died suddenly on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the North Shore Medical Center – Salem. She was the devoted mother of Christian and William Hernandez.

Born in Waltham, she was a daughter of the late Alicia Hernandez and Jose Acety. Onaitha was raised and educated in Natick, adored by her mother and now deceased grandparents, Agustin “Gus” and Rosa (Ramirez) Hernandez.

Onaitha was a kind, sweet, and generous person, who was always excited to attend a sporting event or musical program in which her sons were participating. She had moved from Natick to Dorchester several years ago and was employed as a First Call dispatcher in Newton. Faithful to writing in her journal, Onaitha was a fan of horror movies and enjoyed taking walks on the beach.

She is survived by her sons, Pvt. Christian A. Hernandez, US Army, and William A. Hernandez of Natick; their siblings, SSgt. Andrew Hernandez, USAF, Brittany Hernandez of Framingham, Angelize Roman, Aaliyah Medina, and Alicia Willis, all of Natick; her sisters, Angela Colon of Natick, and Lydia Acety of Miami, FL; her uncle, Tomas Hernandez and his wife Elly of Natick; and a large loving extended family and many dear friends.

Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Saturday, June 14th at 9:00A.M with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, at 10:00A.M. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be Friday, 5 – 8P.M
