Obituary

Joan Marie LeRoy passed away peacefully on June 9, 2014 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She was surrounded by her children, her mother, siblings, and other family members. Joan was born on June 7, 1961 in Minneapolis, MN. Joan was baptized at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brooklyn Center, MN. Joan was educated through a year at the University of Minnesota. Joan was a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and cousin. Family was very important to Joan and she cherished time spent with her loved ones. Joan had many interests and was kind to animals, loved cardinals, writing poetry, cooking and serving others, nature, and being a grandma.
Joan was a keen observer of life and its many twists and turns. Joan never hesitated to relate her thoughts although at times, this may have been advised. Joan was most proud of her children and celebrated the wonderful adults they had become. Joan was looking forward to Samantha and Amery’s wedding and will be there with her spirit present. Joan was also overjoyed at the births of her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Joan never stopped missing her dad; Deacon Al Kattar and has been reunited with him.
Joan was united in marriage to Richard W. LeRoy, Jr. on May 18, 1985. To this union was born Nicholas Alexander LeRoy and Samantha Marie LeRoy. Joan loved her children very much and worked her adult life to help provide for them.
Preceding Joan in death were her maternal and paternal grandparents, paternal aunt and uncle, and her father Deacon Alfred R. Kattar.
Joan is survived by her children Nicholas (Andrea) and Samantha (fiancé, Amery Kuhl), Richard LeRoy, her mother June H. Kattar, siblings John (Mary), Jeanne (Mark), and James. Grandchildren Archer, Scarlett and Sydney. Nieces and Nephews; Kristin, Stephanie, Joe, Jenny, Rachel, Justin, and Mark. Great Nieces and Nephew; Sienna, Madeleine, Henry, Elliette, and Mika. Beloved Cousins; Mark, Neal, and Keith, their spouses and children.
Service Friday (6/13) 11 AM at SANDBERG FNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul, visitation beginning at 10 AM. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
