Rev. Dr. Veronica Helen Lanier died May 29th 2014
Born on September 12, 1918 in Fort Hill Boston to Chester Arthur and Wilhemina Turner Lanier; graduate of Medford High School and Gordon College. Ronnie received training at Brooks, House of Christian Service in Indiana and was commissioned as a missionary by the American Baptist Home Mission Society in 1957 serving in Denver, Sacramento, and Chicago. She joined the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts overseeing children’s curriculum and teacher training. She received a master’s degree from and over Newton Theological School and was ordained in 1970 serving the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts for 25 years. For many years, she hosted bus trips to the annual world mission conference in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Most recently, she was Pastor Emeritus at First Baptist Lynn for 16 years and interim pastor at many other churches. Ronnie has received numerous awards and citations including an honorary doctorate from the American Baptist seminary of the west in 2012. Beloved sister of the late Audrey Lanier, Persis Chisholm and Chester Lanier. She is survived by her nieces Lynette Chisholm of Melrose, Susan Webb of Stoneham, nephew Carl Chisholm of Westborough, great nieces Tanysha Webb, Kerry Webb, great nephew Jason Webb., 5 great-great nieces and nephews and thousands of sons and daughters throughout the United States and around the world. The memorial service for Rev. Ronnie will be held at First Baptist Church, Melrose on Sunday, June 15th at 3pm.
