WORCESTER: Margaret M. “Peg” (Cooney) Creamer, 76, of 5 Goucher Ave., died peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her family.
She leaves her husband of 52 years, John F. “Jack” Creamer, Jr.; three sons, Michael G. Creamer of Brighton, Stephen J. Creamer and his wife Deanna of Medford, Joseph P. Creamer and his wife Melissa of Bronx, NY; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Dunn and her husband Steven of Worcester, Mary M. Creamer of Chicago; two brothers, Timothy J. Cooney and his wife Joyce of Holden, Bernard J. Cooney and his wife Jean of Olney, MD; a sister, Virginia M. Benison of Holden; 10 grandchildren, Delia, Isabel, Harrison, Hannah, Liam, Hailey, Madison, Lucia, Cecilia, Timothy; and many nieces and nephews. A son, Sean F. Creamer died in 1989 and a brother, Joseph J. Cooney, died in 1990. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Timothy J. and Isabelle A. (Johnson) Cooney and was a graduate of Ascension High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Anna Maria College in Paxton.
Peg worked as a teacher for the Spencer Public School System for 3 years until she started her family. After raising her family she returned to work for the City of Worcester teaching English as a Second Language. She was a long time active member of St. Joan of Arc Church where she served as a CCD teacher, ESL tutor and volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, participating in numerous activities at the Greendale YMCA, and spending time with her grandchildren.
CALLING HOURS will be from 4 to 8 P.M. on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 A.M. on THURSDAY, JUNE 12 in ST. JOAN OF ARC CHURCH, 570 Lincoln St. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
