SOUTH YARMOUTH – Thomas J. Dowd, 84, a longtime resident of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Besides his family living at Cape Cod, he leaves his loving brothers, Timothy M. Dowd and his wife, Angela, of West Springfield, John F. “Yacko” Dowd of Springfield, and James V. Dowd and his wife, Susan, of Wilbraham; his loving sister-in-law, Mary Cronin Dowd of West Springfield; and many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his loving brother, Lawrence M. Dowd; and his loving sister-in-law, Betty Zguro Dowd. Tom was a retired insurance agent and a former Roman Catholic Priest with the Diocese of Springfield. He was previously assigned at Sacred Heart Church in Holyoke and Holy Name Church in Springfield. His funeral and burial was held on Cape Cod. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson Street, Springfield, MA 01108.
