Obituary

Mrs. Antoinette M. “Toni” (Monfet) Giard, a resident of North Andover and beloved wife of the late Emile A. Giard, died at her home on Thursday afternoon, May 29, 2014. She was 91 years old.

Born in Lawrence, she was the beloved daughter of the late Philbert and Beatrice (Dumais) Monfet. Mrs. Giard was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Lawrence. She retired from the North Andover Public School lunch program, where she was instrumental in establishing the “Satellite Lunch Program” and fondly know as the “Lunch Lady”. A communicant of St. Michael’s Church in North Andover for many years, she served the church as a volunteer and as a Eucharistic Minister visiting homebound parish members and at Lawrence General Hospital. Her greatest joy came from her family and she especially enjoyed hosting the Christmas and Easter Holidays for all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to Foxwoods. Above all, she was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.

She will be sadly missed by her loving children: Raymond and his wife Lucie Giard of Tyngsboro, Daniel and his wife Kathleen Giard of North Andover, Timothy and his wife Dorothy Giard of North Andover, Susan and her husband Philip Koralishn of Stoneham, Linda and her husband Nicholas D’Imperio of Methuen, Jeannine Nadeau of Salem, New Hampshire, Marguerite Giard of North Andover, and, her nineteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and her pooch, “Scribbles”. She is also survived by her sister Mrs. Germaine Dumont of North Andover, formerly of Methuen, several nieces and nephews and her “favorite brother-in-law” Raymond Zahn of Naples, FL.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Michael’s Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Interment will be held in the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover. Donations in Toni’s memory may be made to St. Michael’s Church, Memorial Fund, 196 Main Street, No. Andover, MA 01845.
