Obituary

Goodson, Gwendoline Molly “Gwen”, aged 90, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, passed away on April 19, 2014. Gwen was born in Exeter, England on October 29, 1923, the daughter of William Rice and Ivy Bennett, and grew up in Cambridge, England. Gwen met Major Jim Goodson, a USAAF fighter pilot in Debden, England during WW2. Although Jim was shot down and became a POW, Gwen and Jim reunited after the war and were married in Paris, France in 1951. As her husband was in international business after the war with Goodyear, Hoover and then ITT, Gwen made homes in Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland and England before settling in Duxbury to be with their son. They had been married 62 years. Gwen is survived by husband Jim Goodson Sr. of Duxbury, son James Goodson Jr. and daughter in law Paula of Marshfield, grandchildren Victoria of New York, James and Ali, both of Marshfield, sister in law Dorothy Rice and cousins Alex and Jamie Rice of Colchester, England.
The funeral service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 1:15 p.m. The reverend Cynthia P. Hubbard of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Marshfield Hills will preside.
