Eileen Smedile (O’Keeffe), of Canton, died April 19, 2014 with her family by her side in Steward Norwood Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Golden, Tipperary she came to the U.S. as a young woman. Eileen worked as a Registered Nurse for over 50 years in the Faulkner Hospital and for several local nursing homes until retiring in 2004.
Daughter of the late Daniel and Mary O’Keeffe. Devoted wife of Vincent P. Smedile of Canton. Loving mother of Erin M. Gleason and her husband Stephen of Canton , and Michael D. Smedile of Canton. Sister of Hannah Moloney and her husband Simon of Cloughaleigh, Tipperary, Mary Butler and her husband John of Dundrum, Tipperary, Daniel O’Keeffe and his wife Martina of Golden, Tipperary, and Seamus O’Keeffe of Farranamanagh, Tipperary. Proud grandmother of Caitlin and Sean Gleason of Canton.
Visiting hours in the Pushard Family Funeral Home 210 Sherman St. Canton Thursday, April 24th , from 4-8 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, April 25th at 10:30 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church 700 Washington St.Canton . Interment Canton Corner Cemetery.
