TAUNTON - Wilfreda “Freda” (Morin) Sylvia, wife of the late Edward J. Sylvia, Sr. died at the Life Care Center of Raynham, surrounded by her family on April 19, 2014.
She was 84.
Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lea (Nadeau) Morin, she was raised and educated in Taunton.
Freda worked as a teaching assistant in the Taunton public school system for many years.
A communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and member of the Oakland Seniors, Freda was an avid reader and Red Sox fan.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Edward J. Sylvia, Jr. of Taunton, Joseph T. Sylvia and his wife Michelle of North Dighton, and James R. Sylvia of Portland, ME; two daughters, Barbara J. Pacheco and her husband Marc of Taunton, and Judith A. Sumner and her husband Mark of Lakeville; a sister, Anita Alvilheira of Taunton; a brother, James Morin of FL; a sister-in-law, Betty Sylvia of Taunton; four grandchildren, Lindsay Sumner, Amy Sumner, Andrew Sylvia and Evan Sylvia; a great grandchild, Nicholas Sumner; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Elaine White Cote.
A funeral mass, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church on Friday, April 25th at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
