Gertrude (Paiva) Troia, age 84 of Fall River, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel “Ski” Soares Troia and the daughter of the late Manuel and Gertrude (Rebello) Paiva. Prior to retiring, Gert worked at the Carol School as a Cafeteria Worker and she was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church.
She is survived by her children: Brian D. Troia of Fall River and Debra Parker of Mansfield; grandchildren: Lindsay & Caitlin Parker; a sister: Eileen Amarelo of Somerset; several nieces & nephews. She was the mother of the late Michael A. Troia, and the sister of the late Hortense “Tess” Roberts, Margaret Arruda, Mary Rego, and Frank Paiva.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. on WEDNESDAY with calling hours from 8:00-9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
