Obituary

Violette “Vi” Roberson Wacklin of Tifton passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center at the age of 83. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Dr. Hugh Ward will officiate with burial to follow. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 19, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Tifton’s First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Wacklin was born on June 6, 1930 in Tifton and was the daughter of the late John Augustus Roberson and Violette Hedgpeth Roberson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Major E. F. Wacklin, USMC; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Ikey Roberson; and one sister, Louise “Lou” Roberson Cason. She graduated from Tifton High School and lived most of her adult life in Albany. She retired from Plantation Services in Albany and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Albany, where she served as an Elder. At her death, she was an active member of Tifton’s First Presbyterian Church, where she also served as an Elder.

Mrs. Wacklin is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Sara Roberson Haga and husband, Roger of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Cecil "Bucky" Cason of Clermont, Florida; three nephews, Steve Cason of Biloxi, Mississippi, Joe Roberson of Savannah and SFC Roger Glen Haga II of Fort Knox, Kentucky; and two nieces, Terri Cason Maccubbin of Charlotte, North Carolina and Renee’ Haga Golaszewski of Aurora, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Thornwell Home for Children, 302 South Broad Street, Clinton, South Carolina 29325.
