TAUNTON – Lucille (DeMello) Souza, wife of the late Alvin G. “Sgt. Souza” Souza, Sr. died at her Taunton home on April 15, 2014.
She was 85.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Guiomar (Pacheco Borges) DeMello.
Mrs. Souza was raised and educated in South Dartmouth and attended Dartmouth schools.
A homemaker for most of her adult life, she was an active communicant of East Taunton’s Holy Family Church.
She was a member and past president of the Holy Family Women’s Guild, and was a recipient of the Marian Medal Award.
Lucille enjoyed sewing, quilting, and other crafts.
Her favorite pastime was enjoying the company of her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Molden and her husband Robert, with whom she resided in Taunton; a son, Alvin G. Souza, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Taunton; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Bruce G. Souza, and the sister of the late Manuel, Frank, Raymond and Albert DeMello.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, April 18th at 8:45 a.m. followed by The Liturgy of the Word at Holy Family Church, East Taunton at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 17th from 5 to 8 p.m.
