Obituary

Quirino A. Pacheco, age 74, of Brockton, died unexpectedly at Brockton Hospital on Saturday, April 12, 2014. He was the loving husband for 50 years of Alfida E. Pacheco. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, he was the son of the late Quirino and Natalia Pacheco.

Quirino attended Saint Ignacio de Loyola in the Dominican Republic and worked for Agromecanica Nacional in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic for over 30 years as an agronomist before his retirement in 2003. He moved to Brockton over 11 years ago and was a very active member of St. Patrick’s Church. Quirino founded the Dominicans United Foundation in 2009, a foundation to help the disabled and elders in need, and Quirino was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Quirino enjoyed giving back to others and helping those in need in his community, and he also organized health fairs in his home town. He was very proud of all of his children and will be remembered as a compassionate and caring husband, son, father, brother, uncle and friend.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Edwin Pacheco of Canton; Claritza Pacheco-Abreu of Randolph; Juan Carlos Pacheco of Vancouver, Canada; Max Pacheco of South Easton; Alfida Diaz of Orlando, FL; and Elizabeth Hernandez of Gilbertville, PA. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, 18 siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday from 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Thursday at 9:30am for a funeral blessing in St. Patrick Church 335 Main Street, Brockton, MA at 10:30am. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
