New Bedford – Rita E. (Auger) Marshall, age 92 of New Bedford, passed away, peacefully, on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Richard Marshall and the daughter of Ida Poineau and Damase Auger.
She was born in New Bedford, spent all of her life in this area and worked as a Winder for Cornell Dubilier. Rita was a proud member of the St. Anne’s Sodality.
She leaves behind her 3 children: Rita M. Girard of Fairhaven, Richard E. Marshall of New Bedford and Ida M. Bernier of Cripple Creek Co.; 3 grandchildren: Christopher Girard, Stephanie Marshall and Marshall Bernier; 2 great grandchildren: Jake and Cydney Girard, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her 9 siblings: Anne Bouchard, Damase “David” Auger, Joseph Auger, Coulombe Proudfoot, Flora Charbonneau, Ida Auger, Claudia Souza, Jeanne Robidoux and Marie Auger.
Mrs. Marshall's funeral will be Friday, April 18 beginning at 9:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford. A Funeral Rite with a Liturgy of the Word will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend.
