Obituary

Fairhaven – Adeline “Addie” Grenon, age 95 of Acushnet formerly of Fairhaven, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Alden Court Nursing Care and Rehabilitation. Born in New Bedford she was the wife of the late Leo R. Grenon and was the daughter of the late Mary (Jose) and Manuel Enos. Mrs. Grenon was a graduate of New Bedford High School as well as Kinyon Campbell Business School. She worked as a Secretary-Bookkeeper for 30 years for the United Textile Workers of America and for the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen for 20 years.
Adeline was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven, where she resided for 48 years, and was a proud recipient of the Marian Medal. She, then, lived in Acushnet with her son and his family. Addie also volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital and, when spending the winter in Florida with her daughter and her family, she volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital, both located in West Palm Beach, Fla.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzle, playing bingo at Bishop Stang High School and her trips to Atlantic City and Foxwoods.
She leaves behind her 2 children: David W. Grenon and his wife, Janice, of Acushnet, and Joan M. DePastino and her husband, Gary, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla; as well as 4 grandchildren: Sara M. Grenon and Matthew L. Grenon, both of Acushnet and Megan L. Swaney and Chase P. DePastino, both of Florida.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, April 16 beginning at 7:45 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 – 7 P.M. Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend.
