Obituary

FRAMINGHAM: Thomas Francis Casey, Jr., age 90, a former Natick resident and retired State Police employee, died on Saturday morning, April 5, 2014, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. He was the devoted husband of the late Violet Mae (Larkey) Casey for 66 years.

Born, raised, and educated in Natick, he was a son of the late Thomas F. and Florence (Scheufele) Casey. Tom was working as a teletype operator for the Massachusetts State Police when he entered the Army in 1943. He served until March of 1946, when he was honorably discharged as a Corporal.

Tom had met Violet while stationed in the Midwest. They married in 1944, and settled in Natick after the war. Tom resumed his employment with the State Police as a dispatcher and in time became involved in purchase and supply. He retired as the Head Storekeeper of the State Police Supply Section after 67 years of dedicated service to the men and women of the Massachusetts State Police.

Very involved in the Natick Parks and Recreation’s Baseball and Basketball Programs for many years, Tom helped ensure coaches, schedules, and equipment were ready to go each year. A longtime slow pitch baseball umpire, the baseball diamond in Coolidge Park was dedicated to him on August 8, 1972. A trumpet player, Tom had enjoyed playing with Army bands as well as local bands during and after the war.

He is survived by four children, Thomas F. Casey, III, of Albany, IL, Marion F. Bilodeau of Framingham, with whom he made his home for the past three years, James M. Casey and his wife Barbara of Natick, and Richard J. Casey and his wife Michelle of Lee; his daughter-in-law, Marie Casey of Eastham; his grandchildren, David, Michael, Sean, TC, Sheri, Amy, Robbie, Tina, Kim, Jen, Richard, Jimmy, Molly, and Daniel; two nephews, Harold Amarto and his wife Peggy and Paul Lindquist and his wife Phyllis; a niece, Denise Siaba and her husband Mike; and many much loved great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by a son, David Casey, a daughter-in-law, Diana Casey, a grandson, Matthew, and his sister, Marion Lindquist.

His funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Saturday, April 12th at 9:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, at 10a.m. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, 4 – 8p.m.
