Obituary

Elizabeth Katharine (Traboulsi) Saliba of Quincy, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away on April 7, 2014. She was 98 years old.
Elizabeth was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 2, 1915. She served as President of the Syrian Junior League of New York for two terms in the late 1930's. She married Dr. Ned J. Saliba and moved to Jamaica Plain, MA in 1941 and became an active member of the Women's Club of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Annunciation. Elizabeth has been a member of the Syrian-Lebanese Women's Club of Greater Boston since 1941, and served as President for two terms: 1950-1952 and 1956-1958. The purpose of this organization is to award scholarships to women aspiring to go to college, and this was a cause and goal dear to her heart. In 2008 she personally awarded a scholarship, in her name, to a lucky recipient. Elizabeth was an active member of St. Basil's Women's Club of St. Basil's Seminary on Methuen, MA where she served as President. Over many decades, Elizabeth worked for her community and her Church and gave generously of her time and efforts to many worthy causes.
Elizabeth was the dear and devoted wife of the late Dr. Ned J. Saliba. Loving mother of Elaine Saliba Costello and Alex Baris of Canton, Joanne Crowninshield and her husband Francis of Berkley and Roberta Williams and her husband Phillip of Mansfield. Cherished grandmother “Tayta” of Andrea Saliba, Dr. James Costello, Ned Brigham, William Brigham, Kimberly Van der Heijden, Christine Esmeraldo and David Williams. Dear sister of the late Edward and Victor Traboulsi and Yvonne Hamwi. She is also survived by 14 loving great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews. Elizabeth's Funeral Service was held April 14, 2014 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Cathedral, 7 VFW Parkway WEST ROXBURY.

Elizabeth was reunited with her beloved Ned at Mt. Benedict Cemetery.
