Obituary

Roland A. Vadenais 89, formerly of Pond St., died April 4, 2014 at St. Antione Residence. He was the husband of the late Yvette (Carpentier) Vadenais. Born in Woonsocket, December 5, 1924, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Anna (Guertin) Vadenais. Roland served in the US Navy during WWII. He worked in the Maintenance Department for the City of Woonsocket for over twenty years before retiring. Roland was known as the “Mayor” of St. Antoine, he was friendly and outgoing and loved to dance, sing, and play the spoons.

He is survived by a son Normand R. Vadenais and his companion Janet Cavatorta of Medway; a grandson, Keith Vadenais and his wife Amy of Woonsocket; a daughter-in-law Marie Vadenais-Hill and her husband Leon of Woonsocket; and two great grandchildren, Brenden, and Elle.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Charles Church, North Main St. Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday 4:30 -7:30 PM.
