J.B. McCoy
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, April 3, 2014, Mr. J.B. McCoy, age 94.
Mr. McCoy was a lifelong resident of Augusta. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps serving in Oregon and North Georgia. He returned to Augusta and worked at Graniteville Textile Mills where he met the love of his life, Lucy Crook, wedded for 68 years. He retired after 40 years for Air Liquide as a truck driver and returned to work for Ryder as a truck driver. Mr. McCoy was a loving father, hard worker, enjoyed being outdoors, loved kids and dogs. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Family members include daughters: Thelma Patricia McCoy, Doreen M. James and her husband Ed; grandchildren: Christopher Alan James and his wife Tamara, Kerri Lewis and her husband Andrew, Valerie James; great grandchildren: Angela and Michael James; brother: Chester McCoy and his wife Mary Ruth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with B.R. Black conducting the service. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jud C. Hickey Center for Alzheimer’s Care, 1901 Central Avenue, Augusta Ga. 30904.
