Janis (Howard) Maley, an 8 year resident of Weymouth and former 21 year resident of Melrose, entered into eternal life peacefully on April 2, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was 57 years old.
Janis was born in Medford on July 31, 1956, a daughter of the late Frank H. Howard and Elizabeth N. (Crowley) Howard. She grew up in Stoneham where she attended Stoneham public schools and graduated from Stoneham High School in 1974. She attended the College of the Holy Cross where she graduated in 1978 with a Degree in Psychology. Following College, Janis worked at the Medford Savings Bank in the Marketing Department for 9 years. In 1994, Janis attended Regis College where she received a Degree in Nursing. She then worked as a nurse at McLean Hospital for 2 years, Mass. General Hospital for 8 years, and Cambridge Health Alliance as a Nurse Manager for 6 years. Janis loved the outdoors and especially the water. She enjoyed boating, skiing, hiking, golfing, and Cape Cod. Janis was the former Treasurer for Melrose Football, she was also a CCD teacher at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church.
Janis is the adored and loving wife of Greg Maley. She is the devoted mother of Greg Webster of Orono ME, LTJG Ryan Webster U.S.C.G. of St. Petersburg FL, and Eric Maley of W.Orange NJ. Janis is the beloved sister of Paul Howard & wife Diane Fingold of W.Newton, Greg Howard and wife Jill of Basking Ridge NJ, and Andrea Howard of Brighton. She is the loving Aunt of Leah & Ben Howard, and Kitt & Jack Howard.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Janis’ Funeral Mass on Saturday April 5, 2014 in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 9:30 A.M. Interment will be Private. Visiting Hours will be on Friday April 4, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home 1159 Main St. MELROSE.
