Obituary

Victoria Krajewski Cieniewicz, age 95, of Lynn, passed away at her home on Monday, March 31, after a lengthy illness, in the care of her daughter Irene Cieniewicz for more than 25 years.
Born in Kolaki Strumienie, Maly Plock, Poland, during World War I, daughter of Jan and Marianna (Sakowska) Krajewski, and the beloved wife of the late Eugeniusz Cieniewicz.
She was the Mother of late Kochana son, Antoni Cieniewicz, who died at the age of 8 in Poland in 1947, twin brother to sister Eugenia. She witnessed the death of six siblings before she was 5, and her Kochana Mamusiu Marianna died when she was 8 years old.
She was born and raised on a farm in Poland. Victoria lived a rustic farm life until coming to Lynn in August 1955. She and her husband and twins survived the German occupation and holocaust in Poland during World War II. She was forced to hide in the woods in trenches at times to avoid the enemy; and saving people’s lives hiding them from the Nazi soldiers. The family was reunited in Lynn in 1955, after leaving Communist occupied Poland. They were then able to help others escape communism and come to America. Her devotion to the Blessed Mother helped her survive during these times, and prayers were often answered and miracles happened for her.
Victoria worked in the leather industry and house cleaning business while raising her family after her husband passed away in 1973 at 59 years old. She was a loving mother to her family, friends and neighbors, who will miss her dearly.
Victoria was a member of St. Michael’s Church before its closing and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality and St. Michael’s Retirees.
Victoria enjoyed her garden, planting perennials, growing vegetables. When taken ill, she would look out her window and instruct her daughter where to plant, caring for the soil, tying the tomato plants, steps to follow for the crop, harvesting and canning many vegetables. She was always the “Boss.”
Irene wanted to be the boss. It will be an honor to follow in her footsteps, the most gentle woman, self taught, unselfish, self sacrificing, giving and magnificent human being. She was love, a “lover” of everyone.
