Gilford-----Edgar M. Swain, 78, of 329 Old Lakeshore Road Apt 8, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Monday, March 24, 2014.
Mr. Swain was born July 16, 1935 in Laconia, N.H., the only son of the late Morrell E. and Frances (Rollins) Swain. He was a long time resident of Laconia and had attended Vermont College of Agriculture. Moved to Arundel, Maine in 1984 from Wapakoneta, O.H. and was self-employed at the Swain family owned "Fran-Mort" campground where he retired in August 1998
Survivors include his wife of twenty-four years, Beverly Ann (Mosher) Swain, of Gilford; two sons, Edgar F. Swain, of New Durham, N.H. and Stephen M. (Georgia) Swain, of Kennebunk, M.E.; three daughters, Lorina M. (Edward Wiker) Swain, of Mayfield Heights, O.H., Lisa K. Mance, of Stone Ridge, N.Y. and Sara Folsom, of Meredith, N.H.; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his oldest daughter Catherine E. Swain, of Modesto, C.A on November 5, 2013 (Walk towards the sun, shadows fall behind.)
There will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be held at the family lot in Union Cemetery, Academy Street, Laconia, N.H. Date and time to be announced.
The family has requested no flowers. For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice, 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
