McCormick, James Alexander “Mac” 73 of Hernando Florida formally of Needham. Died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, March 21, 2014. Husband of the late Geraldine Ray McCormick. Devoted father of Laurie McCormick Fischer of Charlotte,NC and the late James J. McCormick of Newburyport. Brother of Jack McCormick of Marblehead and Maryjane Kelly of Readville. Loving Papa to Michael and Tiffany Fischer of Norwood,Mark,Matt and Allison Fischer of Charlotte, North Carolina, Cal and Hannah McCormick of Newburyport. Brother in-law of Lorraine King of Needham , Loving friend of Debra McClusky of Hernando Florida, and” Uncle Mac” to many nieces and nephews.
Mac was a longtime Needham resident, past member and President of the Needham Golf Club. Mac enjoyed spending time with his Family, golfing with friends and cheering for the Boston Red Sox.
Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave. Needham, Friday April 4, from 4-7PM. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Needham, Saturday April 5, at 10AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mac’s late son James may be directed to support the Melanoma Research Fund.
