New Bedford – Anna Winterson, age 76 of New Bedford, passed away surrounded by her family, on Friday, March 21, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Ronald William Winterson and the daughter of Mary (Mendes) Hillman. She was born in Newport, R.I., lived all of her life in New Bedford and worked as a Social Worker with Child and Family Services and the Department of Social Services.
She was survived by her 2 children: Tracey Giasson and her husband, Thomas, of New Bedford and Sean Winterson also of New Bedford; 5 granddaughters: Kara Giasson, Jade Winterson, Korianha Winterson, Zabrina Winterson and Emily Winterson; 2 step grandchildren: Reed Giasson and Paige Giasson; 2 brothers: Horace Hillman, Jr of Arizona and John Hillman of Boise, Idaho as well as 2 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Winterson was predeceased by her brother, Stephen Hillman.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday morning in the funeral home from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. with a Religious Service to begin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
