Obituary

HAVERHILL: Dorothea J. “Dotty” (Hallahan) Mullane, 74, died, Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House after a brave battle with lung cancer.
Born in Lynn on May 14, 1939 she was the daughter of the late William and Frances (Bourque) Hallahan. She resided in Beverly as a young girl and was a graduate of Beverly High School. She had lived in Salem, New Hampshire for the last several years and previously resided in Groveland for twenty years.
Dotty was a Brownie leader in Groveland and also volunteered as Reading tutor at the Bagnall Elementary School. She relished the time she was able to travel over the years but her favorite place to be was at the beach, especially Hampton Beach. She liked to keep her self occupied and enjoyed reading and doing puzzle books. She was also an avid animal lover.
She is survived by her three daughters, Theresa M. Sansevero and her husband, Stephen O. of Haverhill, Christine F. LaRuffa and her husband, Michael J. of Hershey, PA, and Kathleen J. Gallison and her husband, Jeffrey W. of Windham, NH; three grandchildren, Alex J. and Kelly M. Noonan both of Haverhill and Jeff M. LaRuffa of Hershey, PA; a sister-in-law, Hester Tabak of Huntington, Long Island, NY. She was also predeceased by her former husband and friend, John A. Mullane.
A Funeral Service for Dotty will be held on Friday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill at 7 p.m. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be privately held at the convenience of the family in May. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Road Waltham, MA 02451 or to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9. Lawrence, MA 01843.
