Obituary


William E. Boushell of Canton died March 13, 2014 after a brief illness. He was 84 years old.

Bill was a retired Dedham Police Officer and a Korean War Veteran. Born in Boston he grew up in Roslindale and graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1947. Bill spent two years serving in the U.S. Army as a Corporal and was stationed in Bordeaux, France during the Korean War.

Bill served 30 years as a police officer in Dedham. He was Dedham’s first full-time safety officer for over 10 years. He was known as “Officer Bill” by the schoolchildren.

He served twice as President of the Dedham Patrolman’s Association. He was also a member of the Massachusetts Safety Officer’s League and once held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors. He twice served as President of the South Shore Safety Officers. He was a member of the American Legion Post #18 in Dedham, and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #4.

Bill was known for his love of animals, both domestic and wild. His assorted furry and feathered friends were among his favorite “people”.

He was the son of the late Elizabeth and Harry Boushell. Devoted husband of 45 years to Patricia Boushell (Rodgers) of Canton. Loving father of William H. Boushell of Canton, and Christine M. Hogan and her husband Thomas of Canton. Brother of the late George and Helen Boushell.

Visiting hours in the Pushard Family Funeral Home 210 Sherman St., Canton, Sunday March 16, 2014 from 2-6 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Funeral Service will be celebrated Monday in the funeral home at 10 AM. Interment Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
