Obituary

Mrs. Inez Juanita (Giffen) Laffey, a former resident of Reading and Medford and beloved wife of the late Martin Joseph “Joe” Laffey, died at the Wilmington Health Care Center on March 11th. She was 95 years old. Born in Canada on October 8, 1918, she was the beloved daughter of the late Obed L. and Nellie (Bremner) Giffen. Inez was a person with high energy throughout her life and loved people, especially children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Medford and served the church as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She later became a foster grandmother at the church nursery school. She was an accomplished Seamstress and an avid reader. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was the loving mother of Sheila McCoy and husband Alan of Stoneham, Katie Hunt and her husband Jim of Reading. Loving grandmother of Kevin McCoy, Katie Cross, David and Brian Hunt. Great grandmother of Alicia, Jeremy and Samantha Cross, Miranda and Michael McCoy and Emma Hunt. A sister of the late Kirk, Donald and Herb Giffen. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be celebrated in the First Baptist Church, 37 Oakland Street, Medford, on Friday March 14th at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, on Thursday March 13th from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. In lieu of flowers donations in Inez’s memory may be made to Wilmington Health Care Center Resident Council fund, 750 Woburn Street, Wilmington MA 01887.
