Obituary

Joseph G. Habib of West Roxbury, passed away on March 1, 2014. He was 87 years old.
Born in Boston, Joseph worked for the Boston Naval Shipyard from 1943-1946 as a ship fitters helper. He enlisted in 1944 but was not accepted because he was completely deaf in his right ear. In 1946, Joseph was recalled for service in the US Army and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan until 1947 when he was honorably discharged. He received the World War II Victory Medal for his service.
A life-long parishioner of the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral, Joe was happiest surrounded by family or being involved in anything going on at the Cathedral. A Deacon, he was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America and owned and operated his own appliance service business for years.
Joseph was the dear and devoted husband of Ethel (Zaher). Loving father of Joyce Giroux and her husband Paul of South Berwick, Maine, Linda Jamiol and her husband Paul of West Roxbury, James Habib and his wife Sandra of Norwood, Sandra Doody and her husband Brian of Stoneham and Richard Habib of West Roxbury. Cherished grandfather "Jidu" of Jennifer Carroll, Christopher, Megan and Allison Doody and Joseph, Michael and Stephanie Habib. Dear brother of the late Dr. Halim Habib, Josephine Sion and Mary Scoff. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Joseph's Funeral Service was held March 5, 2014 at the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral, 7 VFW Pkwy West Roxbury.
Contributions in Joseph's memory may be made to the Cathedral or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Joseph was laid to rest at Mt. Benedict Cemetery.
