Obituary




ALBERT “SONNY” W. DRAKE,

Of Marshfield, formerly of Quincy, died at the age of 73 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness.

The son of the late Catherine (Bodkin) Drake, he was born in Boston. Living in Dorchester for his early childhood, he was raised and educated in Quincy, graduating North Quincy High School. He was a Quincy resident for most of his life moving to Marshfield 4 years ago.

After graduation, he became an account for Federal Liquors, then started as an account at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston where he retired as the Director of Information Technology after many years with the Hospital. After his retirement Mr. Drake became a Funeral Assistant for the Roache-Pushard Home for Funerals in Canton helping to comfort families at their greatest time of need with his friendly and personable demeanor.

A member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2259 in Quincy, he was an early coordinator of the North Quincy Fourth of July Festivals.

An avid sports fan, he and his wife enjoyed cruising. He showed a great love of his family and especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Drake is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary (Lambiase) Drake, his daughter, Christine McLaughlin and her husband, Paul of Boonsboro, MD, his sons, Stephen Drake and his wife, Donna of Waterford, VT and Kevin Drake and his wife, Leigh of Marshfield, his daughters, Nicole McLaughlin and her fiancé, John Slick and Kathryn McLaughlin, his grandsons, Andrew McLaughlin, Stephen Drake II and Kevin Drake, Jr. and his sister, Marion King of Scituate.

He was predeceased by his brother, John Drake.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Resurrection in Celebration of Sonny’s Life Saturday, March 1st at 10 a.m. at Saint Saint Ann’s Church. 591 Ocean Street, Marshfield. Visiting hours will be held in the Church on Friday evening from 5-8 p.m.

Sonny’s Family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the the Dana-Farber Cancer Research Institute at www.dana-farber.org.
