WESTBOROUGH: Warren D. “Ron” Gionet (Krill), age 71, a longtime MetroWest resident, died on Sunday evening, February 16, 2014, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a brief illness. He and his wife, Doris M. (Denault) Arena Gionet, were married on Friday, the seventh of this month.
Born in Shirley, and raised and educated in Fitchburg, he was the adopted son of the late Marlin and Dorothy (Krueger) Krill. He enrolled with the Navy after graduation and served as a Seaman Apprentice aboard the carrier USS Intrepid in the early years of the Vietnam War.
Ron married Paula Fornaciari in 1964, and settled in Milford where they raised a family. Employed as a printer, he worked for many years with Colony Press and later with the Milford Daily News. Ron was an enthusiastic Amateur Radio or “Ham” Radio Operator with the call signs “K1ZLQ” and, most recently, “WG1WG”. He enjoyed his large extended family and doting on grandchildren the way only a grandparent can.
In 2002, Ron was married to the former Kathleen M. (Arena) Spencer. At about the same time, he learned that he had been adopted as an infant by the Krills. A biological sister contacted him and told him that he had a large caring family in Michigan just waiting to greet him with open arms. Thereafter, he and Kathy spent their time with residences in Natick and Harrietta, MI, until she passed away in 2010. Ron then lived briefly one season in Florida where he met several friends and then Fitchburg before marrying Doris and making his new home Westborough.
In addition to Doris, Ron is survived by four sons, Jeff Krill and his wife Kathy of Franklin, Paul Krill and his wife Robin of Hill, NH, John Krill of Johnstown, PA, and Marc Krill and his wife Lori of Southbridge; Kathy’s sons, Jason Spencer of Whitinsville and Michael Spencer of NH; grandchildren Becky, Ashley, Cassandra and Christopher and step-grandchildren, Jason, Tausha, Lindsey, five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Colton, Daphne, Micaylee; his former wife and friend, Paula Krill and his Gionet brothers and sisters, Shirley Bushnell, Lairy Gionet, Betsy Boone, Ron Gionet, Ken Zak, and Paul Zak; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brothers Steve Gionet and Junior Zak.
Relatives and friend are invited to visit with Ron’s family at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Thursday, February 20th from 4 – 7p.m. Burial with military honors at Saint Patrick Cemetery will be private. Donations may be made in his memory to VNA Care Network & Hospice, 199 Rosewood Drive, Suite 180, Danvers, MA 01923.
