Obituary

HAVERHILL: Charlottie L. Wallace, 82, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 in the Merrimack Valley Hospital.
Born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on April 18, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Jim and Pearl (Radford) Cates. She resided in Southern California from 1936 to 1965. She was a graduate of San Diego High School class of 1950. She has been a resident of Haverhill since 1965.
She worked as a Certified Nurses Aide in several nursing homes in Haverhill including the Glenn Memorial until 1996 were her coworkers knew her as “Charlie”. Charlottie enjoyed candlepin bowling and was a member of several leagues at Pilgrim Lanes in Haverhill. She loved to dance and was an exceptionally talented dancer.
Charlottie was a member of the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, Post #147 of Haverhill since 1970 and was elected to be President of the State AMVETS Auxiliary, Department of Massachusetts from 1992 until 1993.
She is survived by her two sons, Fred J. Huft of Haverhill and Robert “Bob” Wallace and his wife, Fina of San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Terry L. Bridges of Salem, NH and Christina "Chrissy" L. Wallace of Haverhill; four grandchildren, Wayne A. Bridges and his wife Leah, Melissa Huft, Jennifer Baptista and Matthew Wallace and several great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her husband, Harold E. Wallace.
At the request of Charlottie’s family all services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, (www.StJude.org) or to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, (www.WoundedWarriorProject.org). Funeral arrangements were handled by the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill.
