Obituary

Beverly H. (Kenny) Callahan of Natick passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Metrowest Medical Center of Framingham. She was eighty-eight years old.

Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on September 6, 1925, a daughter of the late John C. & Olive (Casino) Kenny. She was raised in Palmer, Massachusetts and a 1942 graduate of Palmer High School.

Beverly continued her education at the University of Connecticut and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1946. In the early 1950s she worked for the C.I.A. in Washington D. C.

She married in 1956 and was the wife of the late Lawrence J. Callahan who passed away in 1981. They shared twenty-five years of marriage.

In 1966 Mrs. Callahan went back to work as a teacher in the Newark Central School District in Newark, New York. She taught the second and third grades for the next twenty years, retiring in 1986.

Following a move to Natick after her retirement, she continued to work part-time for Macy’s and Jordan Marsh from 1986-2006. She was passionate about politics and animals especially her Beagle “Molly.” She was a faithful member of St. Linus and St. Patrick Churches, both in Natick and an avid New England Patriots Fan.

Beverly was the loving mother of Joan M. Serio & her husband Robert of Hudson & COL (Ret.) William J. Callahan of Natick. Cherished grandmother of Samantha C. Serio & Brianna M. Serio. Caring sister of June O’Brien of Sudbury & the late John Kenny & Loretta Leslie. Loving aunt of John Kenny of NY, David Kenny of Wilbraham, MA, John O’Brien of Sudbury, Robert O’Brien, Jr. of Maynard & Candace O’Brien of Waltham, as well as eight nieces and five nephews from her late husband’s family. Cousin of Gerry & Joseph Slowick of Palmer.

Funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Saturday, February 15th at 10:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 44 E. Central St., Natick at 11:30AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Interment is private.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 14th from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
