Obituary

Albert G. Menz of West Roxbury passed away on February 10, 2014. He was 94 years old.

A proud US Army Veteran of WWII, Albert was a Graduate of Mission High School. He worked for the City of Boston as an Inspector of Highway Construction for over 30 years.

Al, as he liked to be called, was a devoted husband and father who was an avid Patriots fan, and watched many a Boston Park League game in his trusty yellow folding chair. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a quiet man, but the light in his eyes expressed how he felt when he greeted you. His sense of humor always left you guessing and wondering “was he kidding or was he serious.” He enjoyed his occasional Bud tall with his grandsons. His wife Mary was everything to him and a little of that light was gone when she fell asleep in the Lord almost 18 years ago. But, because of his devotion to his daughters and their families and their devotion to him he carried on amazingly well, living in his own home going into his 95th year.

Al was the dear and devoted husband of the late Mary A. (DeGregorio). Loving father of Frances Stack and her husband Leo of West Roxbury and Mary Ann Black and her husband Franklin of Walpole. Cherished grandfather of Matthew Stack of Dedham, Gregory Stack of West Roxbury, Michael Black of Natick, Marisa Tracy of Walpole and Richard Black SSgt. USAF of Tampa, FL. Great-grandfather of Matthew, Chris, Brendan, Alison, Addison, Colin and Bridget. Dear brother of Edward Menz of Quincy and the late George Menz, Catherine Butler, Sr. Mary Robert Bellarmine SSND and Sr. Mary Aurelie SSND. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Al's Funeral Funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. Richard Bradford at St. Theresa of Avila Chapel on February 14, 2014.

Contributions in Al’s memory may be made to Boston Catholic TV, P.O. Box 9196, Watertown, MA 02471.

Al was reunited with his beloved Mary at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
