HAVERHILL: Corrine M. (Labarre) McGrath Cote, 87, died on Friday, February 7, 2014 in the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Gerald E. McGrath and Wilfred Cote.
Born in Swampscott on January 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Nelon and Pauline (Clark) Labarre. Corrine resided in Haverhill for most of her life.
Corrine devoted herself to raising her children and was very involved in their activities. As a “Nana” she truly enjoyed visits and family get-togethers with her many children and grandchildren. Corrine proudly became a licensed driver in her sixties. There was no stopping her once she learned to drive, and she reveled in the independence it provided her. For hobbies, she loved to do word search puzzles, crochet, sew, and always looked forward to a good round of bingo.
She is survived by one son, John N. McGrath; three daughters, Mary Charette and her husband, Charles, Fran Carleton and her husband Bruce, and Nancy McGrath; nine grandchildren, Kelly Tavares, Mary Wesley, John McGrath, Paul and Kevin Newell, Dave Charette, Erica Riddell, Pauline Oljey and Deborah Speropolous; thirteen great-grandchildren, Victoria and Savannah Wesley, Katrina Newell, Adam, Zackary, Nickolas and Jakob Newell, Joseph and Lauren Riddell, Peter, Cody and Timothy Speropolous, and Cooper Tavares; one great-great grandson, Tyson Speropolous and one sister, Beverly Gould. She was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Fred Rand, and her brother, Ken Labarre.
Corrine’s family wishes to thank the staff at Hannah Duston Healthcare and Fidelis Hospice for the care and kindness shown to their mother, and to them, over the last several months.
Funeral services for Corrine will be privately held on Wednesday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Corrine’s memory to the Fidelis Hospice, 25 Railroad Square, Ste. 501, Haverhill, MA 01832 or to the Hannah Duston Resident Council, 126 Monument St., Haverhill, MA 01832
