Obituary

Gilford-----Esther Dorr Peters, 98, of 32 Cotton Hill Road, died on Sunday, February 9, 2014. She was the widow of Kenneth W. Peters who died in 1970.
Esther was born on February 7, 1916 in Philadelphia, PA. the daughter of Everett H. and Ruth (Leeds) Brown, Jr.
Esther moved to the Lakes Region in 1953 from Evanston,IL. She was a broadcast journalist for radio, television and newspapers for over fifty years.
Esther as a member of the St. James Episcopal Church of Laconia served as a lay reader, vestry member, Sr. Warden and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of numerous organizations which include, The Mill Society of Laconia, Lakes Region Clean Waters, Laconia Historical Society, Laconia Chamber of Commerce, Laconia B.P.W. and Altrusa Clubs, Laconia and Lakeport Women’s Clubs, Opechee Garden Club, Salvation Army, Genesis ( Lakes Region Mental Health), Thompson Ames Historical Society, Gilford Library , Gilford School Board P.T.A., Gilford Conservation Commission, Laconia Conservation Commission, volunteered for Lakes Region Conservation Trust, Lakes Region United Way, preservation of the Rowe House, V.F.W. Post 1670 Ladies Auxiliary, Boy Scouts of America and the Gilmanton Garden Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Anne Oehlschlaeger, of Laconia, Susan Peters, of Milton NY; two sons, Frank K. Oehlschlaeger, of Weare, Everett H.B. Oehlschlaeger, of Gilford; five grandchildren, Stephanie Salinovich ,Sarah and Duncan Clark, Elizabeth and Aaron Oehlschlaeger; three great grandchildren; two nieces and five nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Belknap County Nursing Home for the support and compassion offered to Esther and her family.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 3:00PM-6:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00AM at the St. James Episcopal Church in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church location at 2238 Parade Rd. Laconia, The Pastor Rev. Tobias Nyatsambo will officiate.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation PO Box 7312 Gilford, NH 03247-7312.
