Obituary

HAVERHILL: Robert E. “Bob” Jordan, 78, died after a short illness in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on Monday, February 3, 2014.
Born in Haverhill on December 16, 1935 he was the son of the late John H. and Emma R. (Beaulieu) Jordan. Bob was a long time resident of Haverhill and a graduate of Haverhill High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Lowell in 1976. Bob worked as an apprentice for the former C. Frank Linnehan & Son Funeral Home, now the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home for almost forty years. He was previously employed by the Haverhill school system as a custodian and a substitute teacher.
Bob was a retired veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve and the Army National Guard. He dedicated twenty years of his life until he was honorably discharged in 1962. Bob was a longtime member of the AMVETS, Post #147 in Haverhill. Bob enjoyed contributing his time and served as the Past Post Commander and as the Finance Officer for the Board of Directors as well as Post #147. He was also the Adjutant for District 8 and served as the Judge Advocate for the Department of Massachusetts AMVETS. His dedicated work to the AMVETS will be missed.
Bob is survived by his only godchild, Rebecca Garcia, several loving nieces and nephews and his many friends at the AMVETS Post #147 in Haverhill. He was also predeceased by his brother, John J. Jordan.
Visiting hours for Bob will be held on Monday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial with full Military Honors will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Bob’s memory to the AMVETS Post #147, 576 Primrose St., Haverhill, MA 01830.
