Obituary

BREWSTER: Patricia Marie (Lane) McLaughlin, a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died on Tuesday morning, January 28, 2014, at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton after a long illness handled with courage and a ready smile for all who visited with her.

Born and raised in Natick, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Ruth (Brennan) Lane. The family moved to Hudson where Patty later married the late John McLaughlin.

Patty settled in Brewster in 1978 and started work in the hospitality industry. She had been employed at several motels on the Lower Cape before finding her niche, working with those who became lasting friends at Pleasant Bay Village Resort. She remained there until illness forced an early retirement. Primarily a homebody devoted to her family, Patty enjoyed entertaining, whether her family or just spending time with a friend. She was a great cook and loved all of the varied pets she kept over the years. She was known for her wicked sense of humor and her mischievous smile.

She is survived by her sons, John P. McLaughlin Jr. and his wife Jessica, and Christopher M. McLaughlin and his wife Kimberly, all of Brewster; three grandchildren, Ian, Cai, and Mae; three sisters, Margaret Begg and her husband Robert of Orleans, Paula Gilmour and her husband Michael of Brewster and La Florida, Costa Rica, and Pamala McCarthy and her husband Stephen of Ashland; a brother, William Lane Jr. and his wife Kohar of Worcester; and a large extended family.

Visiting hours will be at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Sunday, February 2nd from 2 – 4p.m. Funeral Services and burial will be private. Donations may be made in Patty’s memory to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd, Miami, FL 33134.
