Obituary

A. Noreen "Mickey" (Smith) Hemingway, 87, of Dartmouth died January 12, 2014 at Tobey Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Captain Michael B. and Nora (Murray) Smith, she lived in New Bedford before moving to Dartmouth in 1959.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth.
Mrs. Hemingway had been a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital and the Well-Child Clinic in Dartmouth. She was a member of the Animal Rescue League.
She enjoyed baking and satisfied many a sweet tooth.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Karol Sheehan and her husband Jim of Bedford, NH, Rebecca Marques and her husband Manny of Middletown, RI and Monica Hemingway-Devnew of Dartmouth; 4 grandchildren, Philip Cordeiro, David Cordeiro, Bryan Cordeiro and James Devnew; 3 great-grandchildren, Ella Cordeiro, Bryan Cordeiro, Jr. and Christian Cordeiro; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Michael Cordeiro and the sister of the late Julia Jones, Jacqueline Driscoll and Estelle Giffin.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday, January 17th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 16th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Nurse and Hospice Care, P.O.
