Dartmouth – Maria Isabel Oliveira, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2014 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. She was the loving wife of the late Augusto Zangao and the daughter of Maria Isabel (Pacheco) and Francisco Botelho. She was born in Agua de Pau, São Miguel, Açores, immigrated to this country in 1981 and worked as a Machine Operator at Amaral Linguica until her retirement.
Her surviving family includes 2 children: Carlos Oliveira of Toronto, Canada and Rosaria Oliveira of New Bedford; 8 Grandchildren: Mario Melo, Ana Melo, Carla Oliveira, Paul Melo, Sonya Oliveira, Elizabeth Oliveira, Sandra Tavares and Tanya Oliveira; as well as 7 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Oliveira was predeceased by her sister, Alexandrina Sousa.
Her funeral will take place Thursday, January 9 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St in New Bedford, beginning at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
